Cherie Wong
Resident Choreographer/Teacher
Cherie began her dance journey with Classical Ballet at the age of 7 and was introduced to Contemporary during her time in School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA). During her time in SOTA, she was selected to be in several Arts Excellence Programmes (AEP) which allowed her to broaden her knowledge in dance, as well as experience different styles of dance in Singapore, Korea and New Zealand. In 2019 on her AEP trip to New Zealand, she received direct admission into New Zealand School of Dance for the Contemporary stream starting 2020. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, she had to withdraw from the school.
In 2021, she joined Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) under a full scholarship. During her time in NAFA, she often received Dean’s List for each semester and was able to work with many different choreographers such as Albert Tiong, Kuik Swee Boon, Jeffrey Tan, Dan Kwoh, Jacky Yu and Jenny Neo. In January 2023, she joined The Human Expression (T.H.E) Second Company and have been dancing with them since.
In May 2023, she graduated from NAFA with a Diploma in Dance (Distinction). Upon graduation, she has continued expanding her knowledge by completing all her CSTD Modern Jazz grades, gaining interest in Pilates, as well as continue to teach multiple styles in several different studios. She has been choreographing solos and group pieces with DANSTUDIO since 2021.
Currently, Cherie has her CSTD Modern Jazz Teaching Certificate and is also a trained Level 1 & 2 Stott Pilates Instructor. She is also a core member of HRCY - a Contemporary Dance Crew in Singapore.
